I saw one of the most touching and inspiring movies of my life last night.
Sitting in the movie theater with my family wearing 3D glasses, I was actually tearing up during many scenes of Pixar's new movie UP (by the way… don't walk — run out to see it TODAY. It will change your life and the way you look at life).
I'm a softie, but I NEVER cry at movies (okay – the ending of It’s A Wonderful Life gets me every time). And let me also state that I religiously see every Pixar movie. I will argue to my dying day that Pixar puts out the best movies for any age in theaters today.
But the best part — UP has a number of powerful messages. My favorite, and the one that should stick with you forever is: You are never too old to start your second adventure.
Many people go through life thinking that they only have one good adventure' in them. It might be their career, their marriage, their kids, college, etc. But let me say this — your life can be full of MANY new adventures! And here's the best part — they could get better and better!
I’m a believer in taking action, so here’s how you do it:
- If you can’t get motivated or you’re holding yourself back with limiting beliefs, say to yourself: “This thinking is NOT moving me forward.”
- Then say to yourself: “What can I do RIGHT NOW that can move me forward?” I’m not asking for light-years forward, just a small step forward.
- Then JUMP INTO THE POOL – DO IT! Take that step. As I say to my clients: “I don’t care… Just do it. Make it happen.”
You know what? They do it. And guess what happens EVERY TIME? They say: “Hey, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. In fact, it’s fun!”
So just when you thought it couldn't get better — go out there — grab life by the collar and make a new adventure for yourself. Take a risk, step out of your comfort zone, and push yourself to new heights. You can plan — or don't plan — just do. You might just surprise someone that is never surprised … YOU!
Aloha Rich; welcome to Cause: You’re Beautiful! I am deeply honored that you said yes to writing and sharing your wisdom with us. In 2007, you offered your life coaching services to me as support. I was touched by your warmth and talent. You are a very special man, and it meant the world to me to connect with you twice a month. Thank you for sharing your beauty on a daily basis with those of us who need a little fine tuning.
peace, love and gratitude,

Bonjour Rich,
I’m delighted by this column. I also find that at pixar they’re creating fine cartoons! So I have to see now “Up”!
And to say more, I believe in every word you put here.
I’ve done a lot of things in my life, many experiences, always looking for new ones, cause life is boring doing the same thing all over again. I need challenge every three year at least… so I’m starting new thing frequently.
Being to comfortable is not enough when your still in 30’s, you know! An I’m always doing many things in same time!
I encourage everyone to follow your advice. Making our life a better place on earth, a better way (a new one) and start rising like suns. Quit our odd or old job if we do it for years. What will we learn again we haven’t learned already? Learn another thing and share it with our family, our friends, our neighbours, do good to others, it will get back to us a million and different ways.
The good you did to Toni has already touched me. Thanx a lot!
